Heat
Light
The Demonstration:
A heat source on one side of the system ‘magically’ lights a match all the way on the other side of the system.
The Physics:
These parabolic mirrors reflect infrared light (heat). The infrared light from the heat source on one side is reflected to the other side where it is focused, by the second parabolic mirror, onto a match. Like burning ants with a magnifying glass, the focused light heats the head of the match to ignition temperature and POOF, the match is lit!
